IHG Owner and Owner Applicants Privacy Statement

We have prepared this Privacy Statement for IHG Owners and prospective Owners to explain more about who we are, how we collect and manage your information and the choices you have about your information.

  1. Who we are

This Privacy Statement is issued by InterContinental Hotels Group (collectively referred to as "IHG”, “IHG® Hotels & Resorts”, "we”, "us” or "our” in this Privacy Statement) and covers information that we collect and use during our business relations with you.

When we refer to ourselves in this Privacy Statement, we are referring to the relevant company in the InterContinental Hotels Group that processes your personal information.

2.1. Information we collect directly from you

Information collected directly from you will typically include your name, email address, home or business address, phone number, nationality or country/region, and date of birth.

In certain locations, we may also request copies of identification documents, such as passports, identification cards, or local equivalent.

The precise information to be provided will typically be detailed in any application form and/or letter of intent.

2.2. Information we collect from other sources

In the course of conducting due diligence and other checks, we may collect publicly available information about you from news sources and other service providers. In some cases we may obtain reputation and insights about you.

2.3. Information we collect automatically

We automatically collect information about you or your device when you use our websites. We use cookies, pixels, web beacons, tracking tools and other technologies on our websites, mobile applications,  and in other digital technologies to automatically collect information. More information on these practices  can be found in the  Cookies and Other Tracking Technology section of our Privacy Statement.

  1. How We Use Your Personal Information

For prospective owners we use due diligence processes to help us assess and manage potential risks associated with third-party entities and individuals with whom we may do business.

We use your personal information to conduct risk assessments, which may include checking for adverse media, verifying beneficial ownership, or identifying Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs).

If you are an IHG Owner, we use your personal information to ensure we have accurate contact data and records of the third-parties and individuals associated with our brands, and to support the full owner lifecycle and personalise owner experiences

  1. Legal Basis

We are committed to collecting and using your information in accordance with applicable laws. We collect, use and disclose your information when we have the right to do this.

This may be because:

  • it is necessary for entering into a contract with you, to fulfil our legitimate interest in preventing fraud, or

When you visit our websites, we may also use your personal information for our legitimate interest to operate and improve our services and targeted advertising.

  1. Data Transfers

As we operate via a global network of corporate offices, reservation and service centers, data centers, and hotels, it is necessary to transfer your personal information to a country outside of the country where it was originally collected or outside of your country of residence or nationality.

Where we transfer your personal information outside the European Union, United Kingdom, European Economic Area, Brazil or Turkey, we take steps to make sure such transfer is carefully managed to protect your privacy rights. You may be able to exercise data protection rights, which may include requests to access, correct or (in certain circumstances) delete, any of the personal information that is held by IHG.
